 Contract awards for construction of eight FPSO hulls for offshore Brazil. the Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels that will be used in the full field development of the discoveries on blocks BM-S-11 and BM-S-9 in the Santos Basin, offshore Brazil. The total value of the eight hull EPC contracts is approximately $3.5 billion, with net costs to BG Group of approximately $911 million. Each FPSO will have a production capacity of 150 000 barrels of oil per day (bopd) and approximately 212 million cubic feet of gas per day.

 BG Group sanctions Queensland Curtis LNG project. The first phase of the liquefaction plant will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Over the next four years (2011-2014), BG Group plans to invest approximately US$15 billion in developing the liquefaction plant and related wells, field facilities and pipelines. First LNG exports are planned to commence from 2014, underpinned by agreements in Chile, China, Japan and Singapore for the purchase of up to 9.5 mtpa of LNG.

 ExxonMobil Announces Successful Drilling of the PTU-15 and PTU-16 development wells for the Point Thomson project on Alaska’s North Slope, ahead of the year-end 2010 target. Point Thomson a remote natural gas and condensate field is estimated to hold about 25 percent of the North Slope’s discovered gas resources.

 BP announced that it has reached agreement to sell its recently-acquired interests in four mature producing deepwater oil and gas fields in the US Gulf of Mexico to Marubeni Oil and Gas for $650 million. BP acquired the interests in the fields - Magnolia, Merganser, Nansen and Zia - from Devon Energy earlier in 2010 as part of a wider acquisition of assets in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Azerbaijan.

The report acknowledges that indirect land use change can reduce greenhouse gas emissions savings associated with biofuels, but also identifies a number of uncertainties associated with the available models. The report announces that the Commission will conduct an impact assessment, thereby taking into consideration potential changes to the existing legislation.

 Shell launches phase II of the prolific Parque das Conchas (BC-10) project more than 100 kilometres (62 miles) off the coast of Brazil. This significant investment develops the fourth field in the BC-10 block and continues a successful wave of production growth in Shell’s Upstream Americas business. The full project delivers an energy resource of approximately 300 million barrels of oil equivalent, with facilities production capacity of some 100,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
