 BP to Sell Venezuela and Vietnam Businesses to TNK-BP for a total of $1.8 billion. TNK-BP, Russia's third largest oil company, is owned equally by BP and the AAR Consortium (comprising Alfa Group, Access Industries and Renova). The agreement includes BP's interests in the Petroperijá, Boquerón and PetroMonagas joint ventures in Venezuela and, in Vietnam, BP's 35 per cent operating interest in the Lan Tay and Lan Do gas fields and associated pipeline and power generation interests. The sales are part of BP's plan, announced in July 2010, to make divestments of up to $30 billion by the end of 2011.

 GDF SUEZ and China National Offshore Oil Corporation sign a 2.6 million tons of LNG contract. Under this agreement, GDF SUEZ will sell CNOOC about 2.6 million tons of LNG from 2013 during a 4 year period, and the cargoes will be sourced from GDF SUEZ’ LNG portfolio. CNOOC has a diversified LNG supply portfolio of approximately 16 MTPA.

 Statoil is strengthening and diversifying its US onshore portfolio by entering the Eagle Ford shale area. Statoil and Talisman have formed a 50/50 joint venture for the purpose of developing assets in the Eagle Ford shale. As part of the joint venture, Statoil and Talisman have jointly acquired the Eagle Ford assets of Enduring, comprising 97,000 acres (48,500 net to Statoil), in a $1.325 billion transaction. Furthermore, Statoil will acquire 50% of Talisman’s existing Eagle Ford acreage and production for $180 million (18,500 acres net to Statoil).

 Chesapeake Energy Corporation and CNOOC Limited Announce Eagle Ford Shale Project Cooperation Agreement. CNOOC Limited, will purchase a 33.3% undivided interest in Chesapeake's 600,000 net oil and natural gas leasehold acres in the Eagle Ford Shale project in South Texas. The consideration for the sale will be $1.08 billion in cash at closing, subject to adjustment. In addition, CNOOC Limited has agreed to fund 75% of Chesapeake's share of drilling and completion costs until an additional $1.08 billion has been paid, which Chesapeake expects to occur by year-end 2012.

 BP and SOCAR Sign Shafag-Asiman PSA, in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea. Under the PSA, which is for 30 years, BP Exploration (Azerbaijan) Limited will be the operator with 50 per cent interest while SOCAR will hold the remaining 50 per cent equity.

 Gazprom joins Ipati and Aquio projects. Gazprom Group (Gazprom EP International B.V.) in the project will make up 20 per cent, Total – 60 per cent, TecPetrol – 20 per cent. According to tentative forecasts, gas production from the field will be started in 2013.

 ExxonMobil Announces Odoptu Production Startup at Sakhalin-1 Project in Russia. Field to Produce up to 11 Million Barrels of Oil in 2011. The Sakhalin-1 project includes the phased development of the Chayvo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi fields, with an estimated total resource of 2.3 billion barrels (307 million tons) of oil and 17 trillion cubic feet (485 billion cubic meters) of natural gas. The Chayvo field, which was the initial phase of the Sakhalin-1 project, began production in 2005.
