 BP Agrees to Sell its Interests in Pan American Energy to Bridas Corporation. PAE is an Argentina-based oil and gas company owned by BP (60 per cent) and Bridas Corporation (40 per cent). Bridas Corporation will pay BP a total of $7.06 billion in cash for BP’s 60 per cent interest in PAE. The transaction is expected to be completed in 2011.

 Shell reduces its interest in Woodside; underwriting agreement with UBS AG, for the sale of 78.34 million shares in Woodside, representing 29.18% of its interest in Woodside and 10.0% of the issued capital in Woodside at a price of A$42.23 per share. "we will increasingly focus our investment in Australia through direct interests in assets and joint ventures, rather than indirect stakes."

 BG Group sanctions Queensland Curtis LNG project. The first phase of the liquefaction plant will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Over the next four years (2011-2014), BG Group plans to invest approximately US$15 billion in developing the liquefaction plant and related wells, field facilities and pipelines. First LNG exports are planned to commence from 2014, underpinned by agreements in Chile, China, Japan and Singapore for the purchase of up to 9.5 mtpa of LNG.

 BP announced that it has reached agreement to sell its recently-acquired interests in four mature producing deepwater oil and gas fields in the US Gulf of Mexico to Marubeni Oil and Gas for $650 million. BP acquired the interests in the fields - Magnolia, Merganser, Nansen and Zia - from Devon Energy earlier in 2010 as part of a wider acquisition of assets in the Gulf of Mexico, Brazil and Azerbaijan.

 BP to Sell Venezuela and Vietnam Businesses to TNK-BP for a total of $1.8 billion. TNK-BP, Russia's third largest oil company, is owned equally by BP and the AAR Consortium (comprising Alfa Group, Access Industries and Renova). The agreement includes BP's interests in the Petroperijá, Boquerón and PetroMonagas joint ventures in Venezuela and, in Vietnam, BP's 35 per cent operating interest in the Lan Tay and Lan Do gas fields and associated pipeline and power generation interests. The sales are part of BP's plan, announced in July 2010, to make divestments of up to $30 billion by the end of 2011.

 Statoil is strengthening and diversifying its US onshore portfolio by entering the Eagle Ford shale area. Statoil and Talisman have formed a 50/50 joint venture for the purpose of developing assets in the Eagle Ford shale. As part of the joint venture, Statoil and Talisman have jointly acquired the Eagle Ford assets of Enduring, comprising 97,000 acres (48,500 net to Statoil), in a $1.325 billion transaction. Furthermore, Statoil will acquire 50% of Talisman’s existing Eagle Ford acreage and production for $180 million (18,500 acres net to Statoil).

 Chesapeake Energy Corporation and CNOOC Limited Announce Eagle Ford Shale Project Cooperation Agreement. CNOOC Limited, will purchase a 33.3% undivided interest in Chesapeake's 600,000 net oil and natural gas leasehold acres in the Eagle Ford Shale project in South Texas. The consideration for the sale will be $1.08 billion in cash at closing, subject to adjustment. In addition, CNOOC Limited has agreed to fund 75% of Chesapeake's share of drilling and completion costs until an additional $1.08 billion has been paid, which Chesapeake expects to occur by year-end 2012.

 Gazprom joins Ipati and Aquio projects. Gazprom Group (Gazprom EP International B.V.) in the project will make up 20 per cent, Total – 60 per cent, TecPetrol – 20 per cent. According to tentative forecasts, gas production from the field will be started in 2013.
