 Canaport LNG Terminal (Irving Oil Limited, Repsol YPF) To Begin First Phase of Operations. First LNG terminal built on the east coast of North America in 30 years. First LNG receiving and regasification terminal in Canada. The LNG facility has a nominal capacity of 1.2 Bcf/day, enough to heat 5 million homes.

 Signs partnership at Cove Point. Under the terms of the contract, Sonatrach will receive access to 2 billion cubic metres per year of regas capacity at the Cove Point terminal for 15 years from beginning of 2009. As part of the arrangement, StatoilHydro will also purchase 1 billion cubic metres of LNG per year to Cove Point from 2009 to 2014.
