 Angola: Total Launches CLOV Development on Block 17. Drilling will start in 2012 and first oil is expected in 2014. The CLOV development will lead to the four fields - Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta – coming on stream. The proved and probable reserves are estimated at approximately 500 million barrels of oil. The CLOV Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which will have a processing capacity of 160,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of approximately 1.8 million barrels.

 United Kingdom: Total launches the development of the Laggan and Tormore gas fields. They have global estimated reserves of around 230 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). At peak, gas production rate of 500 million standard cubic feet per day is expected from the two fields, plus associated condensates (for a total production of 93,000 boe per day). Construction work on the offshore gas infrastructure, and on a new gas processing plant at Sullom Voe on Shetland, will start almost immediately, with first gas production planned for 2014.

 Qatargas has started production from the Laffan Refinery, the first condensate refinery in Qatar. The new refinery has a total processing capacity of 146,000 barrels per stream day (BPSD). The refinery’s production capacity will be 61,000 bpsd of naphtha, 52,000 bpsd of kerojet (jet fuel), 24,000 bpsd of gasoil, and 9,000 bpsd of LPG.

 CNPC and RECOPE sign a joint venture agreement. The two parties will establish a joint venture in Costa Rica, with a term of 25 years, to upgrade, reconstruct and expand the 1.2Mt/a MOIN refinery, so as to enhance its processing capacity, improve product quality and environmental protection.

 Whiting Refinery Modernization Project Moving into High Gear. When complete in 2011, the project will increase Whiting gasoline production by 1.7 million gallons a day and equip the refinery to process increased amounts of secure Canadian crude oil.

 Oil is now flowing from template number three on the Vigdis East structure in the North Sea, adding 16 million barrels of oil to the Vigdis production. The Vigdis field is part of licence PL089, which belongs to the Snorre business unit. On stream from 1997 Vigdis sends some 60 000 barrels of crude oil each day to the Snorre A platform for processing.

 Petrobras and PDVSA sign an equity partnership agreement at the Abreu e Lima Refinery. The Abreu e Lima Refinery will get an investment in the order of $4.05 billion and will be capable of processing 200,000 barrels of oil per day, 50% of which from Brazil (Marlim) and 50% from Venezuela.
