 ExxonMobil Announces Odoptu Production Startup at Sakhalin-1 Project in Russia. Field to Produce up to 11 Million Barrels of Oil in 2011. The Sakhalin-1 project includes the phased development of the Chayvo, Odoptu and Arkutun-Dagi fields, with an estimated total resource of 2.3 billion barrels (307 million tons) of oil and 17 trillion cubic feet (485 billion cubic meters) of natural gas. The Chayvo field, which was the initial phase of the Sakhalin-1 project, began production in 2005.

 Shell oil sands expansion now on-stream. successful start of production of a 100,000 barrels per day expansion of its oil sands operations in Canada. The new Jackpine Mine will combine with existing production from the Muskeg River Mine to feed the Scotford Upgrader, which processes the oil sands bitumen.

 Dana Gas announces a new discovery and the start of new production in Egypt. The discovery well ‘South Abu El Naga-1ST’ is the fourth 2010 gas discovery for Dana Gas in Egypt, following the three previously announced gas discoveries: El Pansieya-1, South Faraskur-1 and Ward Delta-1. New production in August from the Sharabas & Faraskur fields via its El Wastani gas plant. This brought the total Egypt production to 230 MMscfd, plus 7000 bpd of condensate and LPG on August 31st 2010.

 First gas flows from Babbage field in United Kingdom. Babbage is expected to produce more than 5 billion cubic metres of natural gas with a field life of 20 years. Babbage is operated by E.ON Ruhrgas UK E&P Limited with an equity share of 47 %. The other Joint Venture partners are Centrica Resources Limited (13 %) and Dana Petroleum E&P Limited (40 %). The total investment in the development of the Babbage field will amount to more than € 350 million (around £ 300 million).

 Eni starts up onshore oil production from Arcadia field in Egypt, located in the historical Meleiha Concession. To fully develop the new discovery, four more wells will be drilled in 2010 and 2011, to produce up to approximately 3000 boe/day.

 Exploration Disko West Offshore Greenland. Cairn is pleased to announce that it has commenced drilling operations on the Alpha prospect (Alpha-1) in the Sigguk Block, approximately 175 kilometres offshore Disko Island, west Greenland.

 BG Group (25%) and partners, Petrobras (65% and operator) and GALP (10%), have successfully completed drilling a Tupi field appraisal well (3-RJS-666) in the BM-S-11 licence area, Santos Basin pre-salt, offshore Brazil. Results of this and other wells previously drilled confirm Tupi's estimated recoverable resource to be 5 to 8 billion barrels of light oil and natural gas.

 Shell starts production at Perdido - world’s deepest offshore drilling and production facility (approximately 2,450 metres or 8,000 feet of water - world water depth record for an offshore platform). Shell designed, and operates, the Perdido host spar, a floating production facility, which is jointly owned by Shell (35%), Chevron (37.5%), and BP (27.5%). The facility will produce from the Great White, Silvertip, and Tobago offshore fields, requiring perhaps as many as 35 wells over the life of the fields.

 Sinopec Completed Cross-country Natural Gas Transmission Project, from Sichuan to Eastern China. The designed annual purified natural gas transmission capacity is 12 billion cubic meters, with a total investment of RMB62.676 billion yuan.
