 Total announced the signature of an agreement to acquire an additional 7.5% interest in Australia’s GLNG (Gladstone LNG) project from Santos for an amount of US $281.25 million. This will increase Total’s overall stake in the project to 27.5%. Once the transactions have been finalized, operator Santos will hold 30%; Petronas, 27.5%; Total, 27.5%; and Kogas, 15%. The integrated LNG project consists of extracting coal seam gas from the Fairview, Arcadia, Roma and Scotia fields, located in the Bowen-Surat Basin in Queensland, eastern Australia.

 Shell reduces its interest in Woodside; underwriting agreement with UBS AG, for the sale of 78.34 million shares in Woodside, representing 29.18% of its interest in Woodside and 10.0% of the issued capital in Woodside at a price of A$42.23 per share. "we will increasingly focus our investment in Australia through direct interests in assets and joint ventures, rather than indirect stakes."

 BG Group sanctions Queensland Curtis LNG project. The first phase of the liquefaction plant will consist of two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Over the next four years (2011-2014), BG Group plans to invest approximately US$15 billion in developing the liquefaction plant and related wells, field facilities and pipelines. First LNG exports are planned to commence from 2014, underpinned by agreements in Chile, China, Japan and Singapore for the purchase of up to 9.5 mtpa of LNG.

 Australia: Total Acquires a 20% Interest in GLNG Project for US$750 million dollars (as of June 1, 2010), Santos and Petronas transferring 15% and 5% respectively to Total. The plant will have a capacity of 7.2 million tonnes a year (Mt/y). Pursuant to the agreement Total will have the commitment to offtake 1.5 Mt/y of LNG, depending however on the result of ongoing discussions between the GLNG project and several Asian buyers.

 Shell and PetroChina complete Arrow Energy acquisition. The acquisition follows an offer in March 2010 to purchase 100% of the shares of Arrow by CS CSG (Australia) Pty Ltd, a 50/50 joint venture company owned by Shell Energy Holdings Australia Limited and a subsidiary of PetroChina Company Limited. CS CSG (Australia) Pty Ltd agreed to pay A$4.70 cash per share for all of the shares in Arrow, representing a total consideration of approximately A$3.5 billion.

 Chevron Announces Significant Natural Gas Find in Australia. Acme-1 discovery represents ninth discovery in 12 months offshore Western Australia. Drilled in 2,880 feet (878 m) of water to a depth of 15,469 feet (4,715 m), the well encountered approximately 896 feet (273 m) of net gas pay.

 Chevron Announces Natural Gas Discovery in Frontier Exmouth Plateau Area of the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia. Brederode-1 discovery continues recent exploration and drilling success. Situated in 4,550 feet (1,387 m) of water, the well was drilled to a depth of 9,022 feet (2,750 m) and encountered approximately 49 feet (15 m) of net gas pay.

 Chevron and KOGAS Sign Major LNG And Equity Agreements for the Wheatstone Project. Under the HOA, KOGAS expects to purchase 1.5 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG for up to 20 years from the Wheatstone project participants. In addition to being a foundation customer of the Wheatstone project, KOGAS signed an equity HOA to acquire a 5 percent interest in each of Chevron’s Wheatstone field licenses and in the Wheatstone project LNG and domestic gas processing facilities.

 Chevron Announces Natural Gas Discovery in Australia; Sappho-1 Discovery to Support Long-Term LNG Growth Plans. Chevron, through its Australian subsidiary, is the operator of WA-392-P with 50 percent interest, while Shell Development (Australia) and an Australian subsidiary of ExxonMobil each hold 25 percent.
