 BP Makes a Significant Deep Gas Discovery in Egypt's West Nile Delta. BP operates and holds 80% of the West Mediterranean Deepwater concession with RWE Dea holding the remaining 20%. Hodoa was drilled by the Pride North America Semi-Sub rig, in a water depth of 1077 metres.

 Anadarko Discovers Oil Offshore Sierra Leone. The Mercury well in offshore block SL-07B-10 encountered approximately 114 net feet of light sweet crude oil with a gravity of between 34 and 42 degrees API, with no water contact. An additional 21 net feet of 24-degree gravity crude was encountered in a shallower secondary objective.

 Dana Gas announces a new discovery and the start of new production in Egypt. The discovery well ‘South Abu El Naga-1ST’ is the fourth 2010 gas discovery for Dana Gas in Egypt, following the three previously announced gas discoveries: El Pansieya-1, South Faraskur-1 and Ward Delta-1. New production in August from the Sharabas & Faraskur fields via its El Wastani gas plant. This brought the total Egypt production to 230 MMscfd, plus 7000 bpd of condensate and LPG on August 31st 2010.

 Angola: Total Launches CLOV Development on Block 17. Drilling will start in 2012 and first oil is expected in 2014. The CLOV development will lead to the four fields - Cravo, Lirio, Orquidea and Violeta – coming on stream. The proved and probable reserves are estimated at approximately 500 million barrels of oil. The CLOV Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, which will have a processing capacity of 160,000 barrels of oil per day and a storage capacity of approximately 1.8 million barrels.

 Eni starts up onshore oil production from Arcadia field in Egypt, located in the historical Meleiha Concession. To fully develop the new discovery, four more wells will be drilled in 2010 and 2011, to produce up to approximately 3000 boe/day.

 Anadarko Announces Discovery Offshore Ghana at the Owo prospect in the Deepwater Tano Block. Anadarko holds an 18-percent working interest in the Deepwater Tano Block. Tullow Oil is the operator with a 49.95-percent working interest.

 BP Signs North America and Egypt Asset Deals with Apache. Several agreements to sell upstream assets in the United States, Canada and Egypt to Apache Corporation. The deals, together worth a total of $7 billion, comprise BP’s Permian Basin assets in Texas and south-east New Mexico, US; its Western Canadian upstream gas assets; and the Western Desert business concessions and East Badr El-din exploration concession in Egypt. The decision to make these divestments follows the announcement made by BP last month that it was increasing its target for divestments to $10 billion. The proceeds of the sales will be used by BP to increase the cash available to the group.

 Sasol announces the award of a joint application with Statoil ASA and Chesapeake Energy Corporation. The TCP covers an area of approximately 88,000km2, primarily located in the Free State and also covering areas in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. The permit awards the applicants the exclusive right to study the prospectivity for shale gas in the Karoo Basin for a period of up to 12 months, but does not include any surface activity or drilling.

 Eni starts up offshore gas production from the Tuna field in Egypt; The field will produce 4.5 million scm/day of gas which will contribute about 8,500 boe/day to Eni's equity share production. Eni owns a 50% participating interest of the Temsah concession through its fully owned affiliate IEOC, with the remaining 50% owned by BP.
