 Shell and Cosan sign joint venture (A US$12-billion joint venture). The proposed joint venture, which still requires regulatory approval, will produce and commercialise ethanol and power from sugar cane and distribute a variety of industrial and transportation fuels through a combined distribution and retail network in Brazil. It will also explore business opportunities to produce and sell ethanol and sugar globally. The inclusion of Shell’s equity interests in Iogen Energy and Codexis would enable the joint venture to deploy next generation biofuels technologies in the future.

GDF SUEZ Energy International to be transferred to International Power with €4.4 billion3 (£3.7 billion ) of net debt as at 30 June 2010. Over 66 GW gross capacity in operation; Committed projects expected to deliver an additional 22 GW of gross capacity.

 Masdar Partners with Total and Abengoa Solar to build the world’s largest concentrated solar power plant with a capacity of approximately 100 MW and a solar field consisting of 768 parabolic trough collectors to be supplied by Abengoa Solar. One of Masdar’s flagship projects, Shams 1 will directly contribute towards Abu Dhabi’s target of achieving 7% renewable energy power generation capacity by the year 2020.

 Petroplus Holdings announced that its investment vehicle, PBF Energy Partners, LP, entered into an agreement to acquire the 190,000 barrel per day Delaware City refinery, terminal and pipeline assets plus the 218 MW Power Plant Complex from Valero Energy Corporation. The purchase price consists of $170 million for the idled refinery and related assets and an additional $50 million for the Power Plant Complex.

Green Infra Limited has purchased BP's subsidiary, BP Energy India Private Limited (BPEIPL), which owns and operates three wind farms in India with a total generating capacity of approximately 100 megawatts (MW), for a total cash-free, debt-free enterprise value of 4.622 billion Rupees (approximately $95 million).
